Occasionally, door hardware is handed, which means particular hardware must be used depending upon which way the door swings and what side of the door the hinges are on. From the exterior side of the door, handing is determined by which side of the door the hinges are on. If the hinges are on the right, it is a right handed door. Hinges on the left – left handed door. If the door swings toward the interior, that’s all there is to it. If the hinges are on the right, but the door swings outward, it is a right hand reverse. Hinges on the left and the door swings outward, left hand reverse.
